Here’s a snapshot of what I’m up to right now. The image above is around the corner from our new (old) condo.

Moved to a new (old) condo
Whew. We’re settling into a new place and it feels good. One room has become our de-facto storage unit until we muster the energy to put all the things in all their places, but it feels good. I wrote a haiku about it.
Fatherhood
Raising my daughter / family life is the sun that my solar system revolves around. She turned 2 a few months ago — proof that time is an enigma.
Ongoing Meditation Retreats (and new ideas)
After running daylong meditation retreats once per month in 2025, I’ve settled on a bi-weekly half-day retreat format. It’s still in the early stages, but I’m optimistic that this new retreat schedule will lead to a more consistent and dedicated sangha. It’s also a lot easier to juggle with the life responsibilities of fatherhood with a toddler.
I acquired a shruti box recently and truly love it. What an instrument. It’s such a joy to sing and vocalize with. An idea that’s percolating is a new, shorter offering that’ll take this general shape: opening circle, group vocal resonance/singing (10-15 mins), silent meditation (20-25 mins), closing circle. The vocal resonance piece will involve tuning into the body and letting out any sounds that are called to emerge. You don’t need to be a singer to vocalize. Every time I do this with people it leaves me feeling great. Meditation feels like the perfect pairing.
It’ll be something short and sweet that brings people together on a more regular basis. If you want to be notified about new retreats and offerings, click here to sign up for my meditation email list.
Reimagining what my newsletter is
My Substack journey with Mindfulness in Everyday Life has slowed down in recent months. Moving took a lot out of me and I had to step back from my regular writing practice. It waxes and wanes like the moon. But now, the dust has settled and I’m getting back in the swing. Still holding questions about publishing work to the internet where it becomes “content” vs. writing more in the shadows and releasing things more sporadically.
It feels less important to publish a steady stream of work than it is to actually hack away at my craft behind the scenes and emerge from the cave when it’s molded into something I find meaningful. At this moment, I’m leaning toward Ephemera being my main newsletter output and publishing longer essays whenever they’re ready. Not rushing for the sake of output. We’ll see. It’s an ongoing rumination and I’m holding the tension of there not being a right or wrong answer.
I am happy to share that everything that I post on my Substack (other than notes) now lives here too, on my writing page. Ownership feels important.
Bringing work into the physical world
With the proliferation and acceleration of AI across our digital multiverse, I’ve been feeling called to the tangible, multi-sensory experience of books/zines/newspapers/large-scale photo prints/magazines/you name it. A couple of friends have handed me their zines in recent months and the tactile sense of engaging with their creations adds an entirely different dimension to the experience.
I’m reading a book on book design called On Book Design and it’s been inspiring to say the least. It feels exciting to consider the possibilities; how art can live a life that’s exposed to the elements, touching fingers and sweat, rather than cascading lines of 1s and 0s; how art comes alive in its movement through the world.
There are long and short-term projects in the works.
